The Journey of Eco del Mar

From our humble beginnings to becoming a brunch icon in Blanes and our first steps in Pineda de Mar, our story is filled with passion and dedication.

Ana

Hello! I’m Ana, and I’d like to tell you a little about myself. I’m Dominican. I graduated in Marketing from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo, but since graduating from university, I’ve maintained a special relationship with food and local products. My job before coming to Spain (in 2008) was at the Ministry of Agriculture, where I helped organize markets. Yes, right next to those tropical fruits I now use in my smoothies, or the yuca we named Brava at Eco del Mar:)

I’m passionate about gastronomy, healthy food, and fusing elements from different cultures. I’ve led the Eco del Mar project since its inception in 2021, but I have a great team with whom I share this passion. Our innovative approach has transformed the brunch experience in Blanes, and our commitment to quality and community continues to drive our growth.

The Beginning of a Dream

Our History in 2021

In 2021, as the world emerged from the pandemic, the idea for Eco del Mar was born. We wanted to bring brunch experiences to Blanes that were only found in big cities. With a focus on fresh ingredients and healthy options, we opened our first cafe, offering a new way to enjoy breakfast or snacks. A difficult start, with no experience in the hospitality industry and no name or brand to drive us forward, but with enormous enthusiasm for what I was doing and a commitment to the project that made me put my best into every dish I made. We adapted our offerings to reflect what I had in mind: homemade, a blend of cultures, starting with the Caribbean flavor that came with it with what was native to this country (that’s where products like Yukita Brava come from).

Growth of Eco del Mar

From our humble beginnings in 2021, we’ve grown organically, bringing quality brunch to Blanes. We’ve spent many hours at the restaurant getting to know you and seeing what you liked, trying new pokebowls and pancakes, and providing the flexibility you asked for. As they say, “pick and shovel.” Eco del Mar is not a franchise; it’s an independent cafe with the passion of the team behind it to give you the best.

In 2024, we opened our second location in Pineda de Mar, and little by little, we’re making a name for ourselves.

We make mistakes, but we listen to all your comments and strive to continuously improve to become your go-to cafe.
